To Understand It

I was reading John and I got to chapter 11 and had to go back to chapter 1 because of the way Jesus talks to his disciples about light.

John 1:3-5

³Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. ⁴In him was life, and that life was the light of men. ⁵The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood^[a] it.

John 11:9-10

⁹Jesus answered, "Are there not twelve hours of daylight? A man who walks by day will not stumble, for he sees by this world's light. ¹⁰It is when he walks by night that he stumbles, for he has no light."

The comparison of these two verse sets is critical.

Can a man avoid darkness?

What is day/night?

What is light?
